Favorite Activities in Summerland!

Summerland, California

Summerland is a beautiful small town situated just 6 miles south of Santa Barbara, California. Set right along the coast, Summerland promotes a relaxed beach lifestyle with incredible scenic views of the ocean and Channel Islands. The town also offers great parks and hiking trails, as well as unique shops, retreats, and activities for locals and visitors to enjoy. If you want to learn more about Summerland, our team has highlighted some of our favorite Summerland activities below!

David: “Summerland has always been cool. Even before Doni Nahmias put it on the global stage. It has beachy vibes, and the ocean can be seen from almost anywhere in Summerland. The best thing about Summerland is grabbing coffee and breakfast from Red Kettle Coffee (or Tinkers if you’re with the kiddos for lunch) and walking to the beach. Lookout Park recently had ping pong tables, a bocce ball court, and a dog grooming station set up, and as the name suggests, it looks out over Summerland Beach. The shopping scene in Summerland has improved a lot over the years, with some favorites being Field & Fort, Porch, and The Well. Local tip - there is a network of trails throughout Summerland that take you all over…definitely worth checking out!”

Devin: “It’s hard to find a house in Summerland that doesn’t have spectacular ocean views! That’s what the area is mainly known for, but it also features a slew of stylish home and garden design shops. One trip down Lillie Ave and you’ll see most of the restaurants and shops, but my favorite part of Summerland is the hidden trails. One loops around the QAD building and a couple others stem off of Asegra Road. When you’re done hiking or biking those, it’s a quick trip down to the ocean to rinse off. Catch the sunset at Lookout Park and call it a successful day!”

Teddy: “When I think of Summerland there are a few places that come to mind. Tinker’s has been around forever and is still as good as it was when I was a kid. We used to go all the time for burgers, curly fries, and vanilla milkshakes, yum! And now I get to continue the tradition with my own children. Lookout Park is also a great spot, it is fun to get food to-go to bring to the park for a picnic and run the kids around. A newer eatery in Summerland is Field and Fort. They have delicious salads, sandwiches, and coffee and a quaint little outdoor dining area. Just down the road is The Well, where they have the best selection of fountains, planters, and outdoor furniture and antiques. Lastly, Botanik is a beautifully curated boutique that sells home goods, pots, pillows, and other pretty things for the home. It’s the perfect place to pick up a candle or pretty orchid as a hostess gift.”
